REFERRALS

Eligibility for services requires that the individual:
  • Be a resident of the South Okanagan Similkameen Health Region
  • Have a diagnosed Aquired Brain Injury (A.B.I.)
  • Is experiencing changes in physical, emotional, behavioral or social functioning as a result of the Acquired Brain Injury

  • Community professional/agency
  • ICBC/WCB
  • Private Agencies
  • Insurance companies
Definition of Acquired Brain Injury

A.B.I. is technically defined as “damage to the brain which occurs after birth and is not related to congenital disorder or a degenerative disease”.

These impairments may be either temporary or permanent and cause partial or total functional disability or psychosocial maladjustment.
